Cat and Steve, Nettlestead Place, Kent, 14th August 2010

After a quite miserable start to the day our arrival at Nettlestead Place was a very pleasant step back in time. Sunshine is particularly beautiful in the evening after a fresh gentle summer shower. This venue has it all, being in the heart of the Kent countryside just west of Maidstone. Nettlestead Place sits high on the west side of the Medway valley.

Looking across through the dappled sunlight you can see and smell freshly cut corn interspersed with large wooded copses that  tease the river as it winds its way from its source near Turners Hill West Sussex to the Thames Estuary and the North Sea beyond.

The wedding breakfast took place in a white Cavendish Marquee pitched amongst the trees with a rolling lawn to its front, which is an ideal position to capture the views over the valley.

The wedding party consisted of around 80 guests the catering was admirably. Steve the groom and the rest of the speakers were able to use our PA for their speeches.

Cavendish Marquees have made a fantastic job of setting the stage with a black starlight backdrop and mantle over the black and white chequered dance floor. The inside of the Marquee was draped  in white and candelabras hung from the ceiling.

All set with everybody waiting on the dance floor Steve led Catherine through the crowd to excited applause and whoops to perform their first dance “If I Aint not Got You” by Alicia Keys.

Our first of two sets this evening was an hour with a mixture of new and old fast and slow. At nine o’clock we stopped for the buffet a great choice of cold meats sandwiches and finger picks.

The buffet break gave some of the guest time to set off some Chinese Lanterns, which look quite effective against the pitch-black Kentish sky.

The Redfords were originally booked to play two sets each lasting one hour with an hour break for the buffet in the middle this was felt to be the best combination as the music had to finish by 11.15pm

We had a great night and congrats to Cat and Steve.

Thanks to Cat and Steve for this message received first thing monday morning;

Hi Matt,
Just a quick e-mail before we go away to say a massive thank- you.
The whole band was amazing and we are so glad we asked you guys to play, the music really made the evening and all your help with mics etc eased a lot of those small worries we had for the meal.
