Joe and Jo, Puckrup Hall, Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire, 27th August 2010

It seems that everyone is going to Tewkesbury today. The M25 was the usual nightmare, there was an accident on the A414 and the M5 was congested but then it could just be the start of last summer bank holiday before Christmas.

We could see from the moment we arrived that tonight was going to be a great party for Jo and Joe.

The Venue Puckrup Hall a stunning location set in 140 acres of The Gloucester countryside boasting and 18-hole Golf Club and Spa.

The stage is elevated at one end of the Ballroom and was accessed from the rear of the building up 15 or so concrete steps… well it cant all be good news !!! It rained while we loaded the gear up the 15 steps…!!

Bens disco started about nine o’clock while the buffet was served. There was a definite air of expectation about our first set as this wedding was the seventh we have played in Wales that has been booked directly form the same recommendation, many of the guest had heard and seen us before…. A little like playing to the home crowd. Odette came up to us and said, “you guys played at my wedding in the Brecon Beacons you were fantastic”

10.00pm … The First dance (the latest ever first dance which is a great idea) was “I Don’t Wanna Miss a Thing” by Aerosmith guests joined straight in and up went the tempo. An hour later we are in the dressing room recovering Matt had serious cramp during the Johnny B Goode solo ….didn’t notice though we all thought it was part of the act…

Back on at 11.30 and straight in with Surfin’ USA non stop till someone asked for “To Make You Feel My Love” and “Light my Fire” we can do both but “To Make You Feel My Love” is a bit more appropriate for the end of a wedding and it went down well and gave a nice intro to the couple of slow ones about three quarters through the last set before the build up to the end.

All done and two past brides make themselves known to us to say how great the night was. Joe and Jo thought the band were fantastic too. Good luck to them and let’s hope they enjoy there honey moon in Sri Lanka and the Maldives.
