Olly and Becky, Commissioners House, Historic...
The Redfords arrived early today to perform as the wedding band for Olly and Becky’s Kentish Nautical Wedding. The autumn temperatures are with us but the sunshine’s great.. Ideal for wedding pictures!! The photographers were up from Somerset. Becky was particular about having them record her wedding. And when they left we took over and got some great wedding documentary photos in the evening. ...

Julie and Karl, Moxhull Hall, West Midlands, 19th...
The morning started brilliantly. Literally..  Then it turned to a typical autumn day,  grey and wet. Our journey was straightforward and uneventful. We had been asked in the week to link to a new site that gives up to the minute (well 3 minute old!) traffic information. We haven’t linked to any site yet that we’ve not had some experience of so we thought we best to try it out. I need say no...

Salomons wedding fair, Royal Tunbridge Wells, 12th...
A really early start today traveling to Tunbridge Wells for a Wedding Fair especially after Jon and Claire’s wedding last night which coincidently was also in Tunbridge Wells. The venue for the day is Salomons which is an elegant country mansion in the heart of Kent that offers not only a sumptuous wedding breakfast but a choice of licensed ceremony rooms to exchange those special vows. We are...

Claire and Jon, Hotel Du Vin, Royal Tunbridge...
A bit of a grey start to the day! It’s that fine rain that gets absolutely everywhere you don’t think its raining yet everything gets wet. I’m sure Hotel du Vin is doubling for Dr Who’s Tardis Its frontage looks just like a small fine dining restaurant two or three sets of Georgian windows either side and above a impressive pillared entrance. In side it stretches to the left and right far...

Natalie and Paul, Eastwell Manor, Ashford, Kent,...
We’ve arrived early again!! Just in time to sample the delights of the Pavilion’s Hythe Bay Seafood Restaurant and bar. Fantastic food and reasonably priced.!! The Pavilion is attached to Eastwell Manor and houses the gym, swimming pool and golf complex. The whole estate seems to stretch for miles across some of Kent’s most beautiful countryside.   The room where we are to play is also being...

Emily and Tom, Caverswall Castle, Staffs, 3rd...
What a glorious day to start our September wedding diary. The run round the M25 up the M1 and along the A50 was uneventful. Very little traffic for a Friday and we arrived safe and early. Caveswall Castle looks every bit the perfect setting for a fairytale wedding and we are to play in the dungeon!! First things first though we need to eat… The local Red Lion pub on the village square...

Rebecca and James, Lower Grange Farm,...
The very first wedding at this barn venue so I guess we must be the first band to play here.. Lower Grange Farm barn is situated towards the rear of the Sandling Harvester (the Running Horse) Although quite close to Maidstone it sits in a little back water probably only known to locals I am sure it will make an ideal venue. Rebecca and James are both Scout leaders and have been hard at work...

Vicki and Gary, One Marylebone, London. 28th...
It’s a bright sunny late August bank holiday weekend morning we are stopped in yet another “On the Run” buying breakfast and batteries. No Van today as the Acoustic performance scheduled for 3.00pm will not need the 1250kgs of gear still load in the sprinter. So not so much humping unless of course we are performing upstairs. Guess what.. ? We are upstairs…. and… at the top of a very step...

Joe and Jo, Puckrup Hall, Tewkesbury,...
It seems that everyone is going to Tewkesbury today. The M25 was the usual nightmare, there was an accident on the A414 and the M5 was congested but then it could just be the start of last summer bank holiday before Christmas. We could see from the moment we arrived that tonight was going to be a great party for Jo and Joe.   The Venue Puckrup Hall a stunning location set in 140 acres of...

Siobhan and John, Boys Hall, Ashford, Kent, 21st...
We arrived at Boys Hall a quaint 17th century Jacobean Manor House set in 3 acres of landscaped garden now a hotel and wedding venue at 7.00pm. We were booked to play in the same room as the wedding breakfast so quite a logistical operation to get the bands flight cased equipment in through the back door and set without disturbing the guests. Things were running late which is quite usual for...

Ele and Chris, The Spa Hotel, Royal Tunbridge...
Unusually our day today started the day before when Peter Thompson the Toastmaster telephoned us to check what time we would arrive at the venue. We were in Essex picking up the new band Sprinter van so haven’t got a clue what time we are due at the venue for Ele and Chris’s Wedding. A quick check on the iPhone reveals a really early set up of 10.30. We are very conscious of being at a gig well...

Fairbridge, Historic Dockyard Chatham, 19th August...
Set up for this unusual gig was a breeze, all but our bear essential was provided for us. This was a fund raising Party on behalf of the Fairbridge Charity. Based in the Historic Dockyard Chatham Fairbridge works with young people aged 13-25 that other organisations find difficult to engage – giving them the motivation, self-confidence and skills they need to change their lives. Our stage...

Cat and Steve, Nettlestead Place, Kent, 14th...
After a quite miserable start to the day our arrival at Nettlestead Place was a very pleasant step back in time. Sunshine is particularly beautiful in the evening after a fresh gentle summer shower. This venue has it all, being in the heart of the Kent countryside just west of Maidstone. Nettlestead Place sits high on the west side of the Medway valley.  Looking across through the dappled...

Nick and Charlotte, Cliffe, Kent, 7th August 2010
Another fantastic day weather wise, we have been so lucky this year!!…. Just as well as today’s wedding relied so much on the weather being kind.  The venue “Buckland Barn in Cliffe” was so close by we were able to get in the night before and help set up the stage and put up our new back drop for the first time … we had seen something similar at a wedding we did in Solva North Wales…., It looked...

Kieran and Lucie, Wokingham,31st July 2010
Another early setup this time in Wokingham. A lovely private estate set amid mature Willow, Oak and Beech trees with rolling lawns that seem to go on for miles. We arrive to the sound of the Wokingham brass band warming up. The champagne reception is nestled under a spreading Chestnut tree and the florists are putting the final touches to the table decorations. The Marquee is set to the rear of...

Sean and Becky, Bicester, 24th July 2010.
Well the day started great ! We were ready for a 10.00am start and the journey to Bicester to set up early at the wedding of Sean and Becky. The Redfords like to set up early if they are performing in the same room as the wedding breakfast. So when the guests and Bride and Groom arrive everything is ready and in place. The M25 was blocked as usual ! Ascot racing and the Farnborough...

The Redfords performed at the evening reception for and Liz, the new Mr and Mrs Sanderson New Forest wedding. At the idyllic Rhinefield House Hotel another stunning Handpick Hotel. We received this message from Andy and Liz the very next morning and would like to thank them for taking the time out on their first full day as Mr and Mrs to think about us!  Just a short note to say thank you...

Theresa and Colin, Acoustic Duo, Rowhill Grange...
The Redfords Acoustic Duo performed during the wedding ceremony and breakfast for Colin and Theresa at the lovely Rowhill Grange Hotel and Utopia Spa in Kent. Theresa had handpicked the songs she wanted for the ceremony. She made her grand entrance down the stairs and across the lawn to ‘Over the Rainbow’. During the signing of the register we played ’Time after time’...

Live at The Thames Barge Driving Race, London,...
All we knew was that we had to be at Butlers Wharf in the Pool of London at 09:30 to load aboard the Elizabethan. It was to be a corporate event and that we wouldn’t have much space to set up. The Redfords have performed in London many times before and knew that leaving the van all day full of flight cases would be a tempting find for opportunist car thieves. So we put together the...

Chris and Nanette, Ratsbury Barn, Tenterden Kent....
The Redfords were in the heart of Kent this last weekend. An idyllic location much in the style of H E Bates. At the perrfick Ratsbury Barn for Chris and Nanettes wedding reception. After an early arrival and set up The Redfords played 3x40 minute sets of live music picked out from our lists online with iPod music between. The first dance, which Chris pre arranged via phone was first...

Paul and Rachel, Cole Court Centre, Twickenham....
Tonight The Redfords played at Paul and Rachel’s evening reception at Cole Court Centre in Twickenham. The first dance tonight was Rainbow connection by The Muppets,  which Jim sang in his full Kermit voice.  We added The Black eyed Peas “I gotta a feeling”  to the set tonight and its a definite keeper. The staff at Cole Court were very friendly and the dressing room goes...

Sarah and Paul Mitton Hall 5th June 2010
The Redfords had a great gig this weekend. We had the pleasure of performing at Sarah and Paul’s wedding at Mitton Hall nr Clitheroe Lancs. We played 3 sets at the evening reception in the stylish main room at Mitton Hall on the banks of the River Ribble. The first dance has to be one of our favourites “Baby I love You” by The Ramones. A great choice of song which was fun for...
